THE world champions will be in Glasgow this Tuesday after Great Britain secured gold in the Speedway of Nations for the first time in their history.
The national side beat Poland in the final of the pairs competition at the National Speedway Stadium in Manchester on Sunday night, securing their first world team title since 1989.
Both those nations now travel to the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium to go head-to-head in a full test international, where fans will get to see British heroes including Robert Lambert, Dan Bewley and current Tiger Tom Brennan.
The hosts will, however, be without talisman Tai Woffinden – after the three-time world champion crashed out during Saturday’s opening round.
Bartosz Zmarzlik and Maciej Janowski, who led the Polish charge during the event, head a star-studded line-up for the visitors.
Brennan, who joined Glasgow halfway through the 2021 season, said: “It’s absolutely unbelievable. The team we had tonight was obviously hindered with Tai having pulled out after his massive crash.
“But for us to have Dan step in like he did and Robert to perform the way he did, and me to jump in for my races and get the results that I did, was absolutely amazing.
“Team GB are very professional and very prepared and I think you have to take one look at our pits to know that we mean business.
“In the final it was great to know that we were almost there, and to see how Team GB have progressed the last five or six years – you could see all the emotion coming out.
“I’ll look forward to bringing my gold medal to Ashfield on Tuesday.”
Tickets for Tuesday’s meeting are available online with a large crowd expected.
The meeting will also be streamed live, around the world, on Tigers TV.
