TIGERS boss Cami Brown admitted it was a “sensational” victory at Redcar.
The Allied Vehicles Tigers won 48-42 in the Cab Direct Championship at the ECCO Arena.
It was a first home defeat of the season on Teesside for one of the title favourites.
Chris Harris top scored with paid 17 for the Tigers with new Danish wonderkid Villads Nagel also outstanding with paid 13 and Leon Flint 12.
Brown said: “That is a sensational victory and performance from the boys.
“Redcar are one of the title favourites in my book and we’ve managed to win in some style at their place.
“Obviously they had a couple of riders missing but we also had to run without Dan Thompson.
“I can’t praise the boys enough. Chris (Harris) was an outstanding leader as usual. But Villads (Nagel) delivered a very special display on his first time at Redcar.
“Leon (Flint) probably swung the meeting our way with arguably his best ever ride for Glasgow. Beating Danny King and Charles Wright from the back on home track is incredible. It also stopped them gaining anything from the tactical sub ride.
“But Max (Perry) also picked up vital points while Kyle (Howarth) and Freddy (Hodder) battled for every single crucial point. It’s a cracking result.
“Now we have a big meeting at Ashfield against Scunthorpe on Saturday night. We go into that on a real high now.
“But if we can pick up another win and bonus point that will make it a fabulous weekend for us.”
It was the perfect start for the Tigers with Harris and Nagel taking a 5-1 over Wright in Heat 1. It was the first of three maximums in the opening five heats.
Harris delivered the same with Flint in Heat 3 and then Nagel again in Heat 5.
But Flint produced an incredible ride to pass both King and Wright in Heat 7 to thwart their tac sub.
The decisive blow came in Heat 13 with Harris and Howarth taking a 4-2 over the Bears top two. Flint then wrapped it up with second place a race later.
