GLASGOW and Edinburgh face a one-meeting showdown to see who makes the final of the Jubilee League.
The Tigers were 46-41 winners at Berwick on Saturday, setting up a huge clash at Ashfield on Sunday to decide the winners of the Scottish group.
Glasgow are three points behind Edinburgh, but have a better points difference, and will top their section if they beat the Monarchs by seven points or more.
Edinburgh, meanwhile, need to take a point to qualify.
The Tigers went to Berwick without No 1 Craig Cook, following a crash away to Edinburgh on Friday, but double-figure hauls from Tom Brennan and Ben Basso helped secure the win.
Boss Cami Brown says several factors meant they missed the chance to take all four points.
He said: “I’ve got to say Ulrich Ostergaard got knocked off clearly in heat three. The referee made an error which ultimately cost us an extra point in the end.
“Connor Bailey didn’t have a great night and I have him a bit of a row for giving up in heat nine, because he would have scored two points if he’d kept going and it ended 3-0 to Berwick. But he’s young and he’ll hopefully learn from it.
“And I’m a wee bit disappointed in heat 15, where we lost a 5-1.
“However, tonight we’ve gone there and we’ve given ourselves a chance – and tomorrow is now a proper meeting which the guys are fired up for.
“Danyon Hume was fabulous tonight, he’s been riding with a lot of injuries from last night’s crash. Ulrich was also very sore after getting knocked off and there’s a little bit of doubt over his fitness for tomorrow.
“I want to give a special mention to Broc Nicol. I’ve been speaking to him recently and he knows he’s got to ride a bit harder. He’s been working with Greg Hancock on the mental side of things too. Tonight I thought he was outstanding.
“Ben turning up late to the meeting, it was frantic trying to get him on track, but he did a good job for us as well.
“I also want to say we had a fantastic support backing the boys. When we came out on the parade truck it looked like there were as many Glasgow fans as Berwick.”
Richard Lawson guests at No 1 for Glasgow on Sunday with Cook hoping to return for next Friday’s match against Birmingham.
