CHRIS HARRIS vowed there were “promising signs” despite an opening defeat at Berwick.
The Allied Vehicles Tigers went down by 48-42 to the Jewson Bandits at Shielfield Park on Saturday night.
There was an early blow with Lee Complin ruled out from the meeting after being deemed ineligible to race by the referee.
That meant the Tigers had to race with only six riders for the BSN Series clash.
Berwick took an early six-point lead but Tigers fought back and it was level at 33-33 after Heat 11.
Harris was outstanding with 15 points from six rides. He said: “It was tough to start the meeting by losing Lee Complin the way we did.
“We battled hard but it wasn’t quite good enough on the night. It’s a tough track to come to and you can’t be afraid to attack it.
“There were promising signs. It was tough to lose our winning streak here but that was always going to happen one day I suppose.
“But there’s lots of potential. Young James Pearson had a couple of good rides and the same for Ace Pijper. There’s a few teething problems but we can iron them out before next week.”
Tigers are next in action for the first home meeting of the season on Friday against Edinburgh, also in the BSN Series.
