BOSS Cami Brown admits that his side face the “acid test” against Poole.
The Allied Vehicles Tigers take on the Pirates in a vital Cab Direct Championship clash at Ashfield tonight (Friday).
Last October the sides met in the Grand Final which saw Glasgow take the league title off the seasiders.
But Brown knows his team face a tough task. He said: “The last time they were here it was one of the great weeks for Glasgow, a wonderful Grand Final win over two legs. A result we are still extremely proud of.
“It has to be said that the Pirates were gracious in defeat on those occasions. They are a classy outfit and it’s no surprise that they remain the benchmark when it comes to success in British speedway.
“But that does make it even more satisfying to try and a get a strong result against them.
“Our job tonight is unbelievably hard without Steve Worrall, who remains out with Labyrinthitis. We have drafted in Anders Rowe as a guest, the best rider available to use, and we hope he can deliver a performance to help us overcome the Pirates. It’s the acid test for us.
“To be honest, every one of the team will have to produce something special tonight, they will all have to find an extra level.
“On a positive note, one of other greatest attributes this season has been when our backs have been against the wall.
“It’s frustrating that we have allowed ourselves to be in difficult positions. But nonetheless it has made for real excitement with fightbacks. I don’t believe we can allow Poole to get an early lead like we have done with other sides.”
