GLASGOW’S new Aussie ace James Pearson is still aiming high for national title glory.
The hot prospect has 15 points with two rounds to go of the Australian Championship.
Pearson, 18, admits he was gutted to miss out on the semi-finals in the opening round after breaking a chain.
He said: “I had a really good first round with a couple of wins, a third, a last and a did not finish.
“I missed out on the semi-finals by one point, my chain broke on the last lap on the last corner. That was frustrating to miss out having got so close.
“The past second and third rounds were difficult. At Kurri Kurri the track was very tricky, we couldn’t really ride that hard.
“Then in Albury I just couldn’t get the set-up. In my first two races I was just so slow. I got two seconds which was pretty good and then a very tough last race.
“I know I can beat everyone, I know I’m fast enough. I have beaten most of the field apart from Jack Holder, Max Fricke and Rohan Tungate.
“I know I can do it. It’s just about getting a good gate and getting the right line.”
Pearson is now only eight weeks from arriving back in the UK to join up with his new club at Ashfield Stadium.
He added: “I’m looking forward to having a team that wants to win. We are defending champions so we want to go back-to-back.
“I’ve never managed to win any team silverware so it would be awesome to do that.
“The preparations have started for getting to Glasgow. I am looking for sponsorship and backing to be in the best possible position to win races for the Tigers. It should be a great year ahead.”
