FOOTBALL legends Ally McCoist and Alan Brazil have talked up the Tigers live on talkSPORT radio.
The former Scotland, Rangers and Ipswich stars began by playfully arguing about where the Tigers have raced across the city.
Brazil spoke fondly about Charlie Monk, Jim McMillan and Witches superstar John Louis, who he watched live during his time playing for Ipswich Town at Portman Road in the 1980s.
McCoist also jumped in to mention Ivan Mauger and that the Tigers now race at Ashfield Stadium.
Brazil began by mentioning: “Have they still got the speedway at Hampden? Glasgow Tigers used to race there.
McCoist replied: “Speedway at Hampden? They’ve never raced at Hampden in their life. It’s Shawfield and I tell you right now I think they’re at Ashfield now.”
Then Brazil added: “I remember climbing over and getting Charlie Monk’s goggles. Jimmy McMillan, was he there as well.”
McCoist said: “I can give you Ivan Mauger.”
Brazil, having clearly looked up the Tigers on Google, added: “There you go 1969 to 1972 Glasgow Tigers Hampden. I was there.”
After a brief music break, McCoist had done even more research.
He added: “Brilliant. I was just reading about the Glasgow Tigers. They were actually at Celtic Park. They started at the Nelson Recreation Ground, Celtic Park away back in the 20s, then Cliftonhill which is Albion Rovers’ ground.
“Then White City at Ibrox, they moved because the M8 was getting built, then Blantyre. They had to move because the East Kilbride Expressway was being built.
“They went to Shawfield and now Ashfield.”
Brazil then recalled: “I used to watched at Ipswich Witches at Foxhall Stadium. They used to get a good crowd there.”
McCoist responded: “Love it. No brakes on those bikes, you know that don’t you.”
Brazil continued: “I’ve been on one. Dave Lanning took me round the track. A guy called John Louis, he was the kingpin. Ipswich Witches, he was brilliant.”
During his pomp at Rangers, McCoist watched the Tigers in action at Shawfield. He was even pictured with Kenny McKinna, as one loyal fan revealed today.
