GREAT BRITAIN Youth boss Neil Vatcher admits it’s always a “huge buzz” for the first races of the Championship.
Glasgow stage the opening round of the 2026 events at Ashfield on Sunday afternoon, 1pm.
It’s an appropriate place to start with Glasgow now being the home of the GB Youth Academy.
Vatcher said: “There’s always a huge buzz for the first round of the new Championship.
“Every season we have a new influx of young riders and some moving up classes. There’s always progress and that’s always so inspiring for everyone involved.
“We’ve already held two Academy days at Ashfield this year so it’s fantastic to be back. The Facenna family and club always stage it so well.”
There will be 25 qualifying races across the 4 classes of 500cc, 250cc, 125cc and 125cc Support with each class also having a winner takes all final heat.
In the 500cc class National League riders Stene Pijper, Charlie Southwick and Ollie Binns will be hoping to get off to a winning start to the series to put a marker down.
Last year’s 250cc Bronze medallist Archie Rolph will be hot favourite to claim the 250cc Championship in 2026 but will have stiff opposition from both Demi Blu Harris and Kane Newby.
Plenty of local interest in the 125cc Class with Northern Junior League riders Douglas and Ella Marshall racing on their home circuit as well as the reigning British Champion Lewis Hague and his brother Callum who represent the Edinburgh club West Lothian in the Northern Junior League.
To complete this class is 2025 silver and bronze medallists winners Fraser Buckle and Oscar Berwick respectively
The 125cc Support Class includes 3 new riders to the series in 2026 Junior Travers, Erza McNair and George Climo.
