A FORMER World Champion, the reigning World Under-21 champ, and multiple national title winners are part of a star-studded line-up for next weekend’s Grand Prix qualifier in Glasgow.
The field for the event at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium on Saturday June 8 has been announced, and is sure to leave fans across the country watering at the mouth in anticipation of a superb night’s racing.
Aussie Chris Holder, who topped the world in 2012, will be joined by the likes of Bartosz Smektala from Poland – the current under-21 title holder – Niels-Kristian Iversen from Denmark, current GP rider, a finalist in this month’s opening round in Warsaw and multiple national champion in his home country, and Brits Robert Lambert – the reigning British Champion and Grand Prix reserve – and Glasgow’s own Craig Cook, a GP rider in 2018, at the event.
Also in the line-up are Denmark’s Hans Andersen, a multiple Grand Prix and World Cup winner, Premiership Wolverhampton’s Swedish star Jacob Thorssel, himself a former Grand Prix wild card, and former World Longtrack Champion Erik Riss from Germany.
Representatives of France, the USA, Finland, Norway and Italy will also compete – looking to book their place in the Grand Prix Challenge, which will determine three of the entrants to next year’s World Championship series.
