We hope that you are all acclimatising to these cold mornings and dark early evenings?
Just think when we all emerge back into the lighter months the new speedway season will be upon us!
First off we would very much like to say a huge and sincere THANK YOU to all our supporters who have given up some of their own time in recent weeks to come along to Ashfield and help us more than break the back of some initial tidying which will benefit us when time is more pressing nearer opening night 2013
Again, thank you one and all.
As those eager volunteers will have noticed, some early track work has already commenced to help us restore the track to its smooth and shapely best ahead of next season.
The work which has started, under the watchful eye of Doc Bridgett, includes widening the straights, repairing some issues with track drainage and reshaping the entry to the turns.
The combination of this activity, along with some further works to be undertaken during the winter recess, will give the riders every chance to race faster, harder and more confidently next season and that ought to mean a better and more entertaining product for us all to enjoy! More information on this in the coming weeks and months.
Glasgow Speedway will of course be represented at this weekends BSPA annual conference/AGM, which is to be held in Coventry.
Undoubtedly this years conference will hold extra significance for the new Tigers’ management team as they seek formal ratification by the sports governing body, prior to being able to participate in the ensuing debate as well as contribute to the decisioning around season 2013.
We will aim to bring you news, once formally available, via the clubs website (hopefully by Monday afternoon) and summarise the key points, straight to your inbox, in next weeks newsletter.
A timely reminder to you also that the first STARs event of this winter will be held on Saturday, 24th November with the event making a return to Firhill Stadium where the first STARs events were held back in the winter of 2006.
STARs have now announced their guests as Elite League winning team boss Alun Rossiter, and Australian Team boss Mark Lemon, still riding with Premier League rivals Newcastle and currently heading back to the UK after being in Argentina with Dakota North and Sam Masters at the World U-21 Championship rounds in Bahia Blanca.
The event will start sharp at 7:30pm (please note that entry to the Aitken Suite will not be possible until 7pm) and admission prices at the door are Adults £10, Concessions £8, U16s £2 and Growlers Club members go free.
Apart from some fun and banter with the guests, the Tigers promotion will be providing an update on various matters inclusive of the 2013 team and it is expected that some signings will be announced on the night (and that the individuals concerned will hopefully be in attendance too).
So, why not make a point NOW of booking the event into your diary: it will be THE place to be and hear, first hand, all things Tigers.
Remember too please that the STARs event will be the first opportunity to pick up, and submit, Season Ticket Application forms for 2013.
Prices will be announced next week and shared via the Tigers website as well as in your newsletter.
The journey has only just begun, we want you to follow, and support, us along every step of the way – between now and 2013 and beyond!
