…and call in the Glasgow Allied Vehicles Tigers, who this weekend will relish in the challenge of running the Berwick Bandits out of town!
Putting last week’s rain-off and week-off behind us, it is all systems go for home and away League Cup action against the Bandits this weekend – the weather forecast looks favourable too.
With the Tigers looking to make a strong start, with just an away defeat at Workington so far, the Bandits will be set on making up for their back-to-back losses against Edinburgh last weekend to bring them back into some contention in the group standings – so something has to give.
Tigers took lots of positives from our opening weekend and will now look to keep that momentum going, although with a stronger points scoring contribution at the top end, to shoot down the Bandits.
The visitors have a very solid looking side this season, with no less than 3 former Tigers in their ranks, as well as points scoring potential right through their 1-7.
In Mathew Wethers, Kevin Doolan and Claus Vissing alone the Bandits have three riders with strong Ashfield points piling pedigrees, add in David Bellego and Matej Kus, the well articulated potential of Liam Carr and Steen Jensen, and clearly the Tigers will have to be at our very best to win the available League Cup points.
With Rusty Harrison and Anders Thomsen both in such exciting form last time out, and with solid debut contributions from Kasper and Mark too, Tigers will additionally look to the skipper Theo, and No.1 Kevin, to both show some imperious form around their home patch. Of course, young Dimitri will want to come out on top against fellow countryman and good friend David Bellego.
All in all a highly interesting and thoroughly entertaining encounter is very much on the cards for Sunday.
There is certain to be a noisy and colourful Bandits following at Ashfield on Sunday, so we need an even more colourful and noisier support for the Allied Vehicles Tigers to also win the off track battle! – gates open at 2pm.
Suited, booted and bedecked!
