GLASGOW welcome back a well-known face to lead their charge against Newcastle at Ashfield tomorrow.
Eastbourne’s Richard Lawson is racing for his parent club in place of Craig Cook who captains Great Britain in this weekend’s Speedway of Nations.
The Tigers are still unbeaten at home and come into the meeting off the back of a 62-28 thrashing of Birmingham last week.
But manager Cami Brown says this weekend’s Championship double header against the Diamonds will be a tougher challenge with GB international Steve Worrall leading the opposition.
He said: “It is fantastic to see a Glasgow rider captaining the country into world speedway’s premier team event.
“We wish Craig all the best and hope he can bring back a medal for Great Britain.
“We will miss having him in the pits at Glasgow but we’re delighted to have Richard Lawson back with his parent club for the night and excited to see what he can produce for us as we face a difficult test from Newcastle.
“If he can reproduce the form he’s had here in the past he’ll be a very capable deputy.
“We also need the crowd to be the eighth man and push the boys all the way to another crucial win.
“We can’t let up at home and although we had a big win last time, it won’t be so easy for us tomorrow.
“With the summer holidays now in full flow it would be great to see a bumper crowd out to cheer the boys on and hopefully then make the journey to Newcastle on Sunday for the return fixture.”
Tomorrow’s meeting starts at 7.30pm.
