TIGERS co-owner Peter Facenna admits he is “really excited” by the new-look team for 2025.
There’s now just 74 days until the new Cab Direct Championship season begins in early April.
The fresh line-up for the season ahead is a potent mix of youth and experience with big-hitters Chris Harris and Kyle Howarth joined by Dan Thompson, Leon Flint, Ashton Boughen, Freddy Hodder and Max Perry.
Speaking on the excellent Talk Speedway Podcast, Facenna opened up on his views behind his family taking ownership of the Tigers a decade ago, a positive outlook on the sport and hosting big British and FIM events at Ashfield Stadium.
But on the forthcoming season, he revealed: “We know we’ve got a really good racetrack, so we want to have racers. People that can pass and have a go.
“Kyle and Chris, that’s what they are, that’s what they do.
“Leon was great last year. He was a bit up and down, by his own admission.
“One thing he was great at was his passion and his commitment. How great he was as a team player and how great he was in the pits. That was a big part of why we brought Leon back.
“Dan obviously had a great season. The fact he can ride any track. He spent all that time at Leicester and Ipswich, tighter tracks as well. Now he wants to spend time on a faster, flowing track like ours. He wants to put the work in, is right up for it.
“Ashton has got all the potential in the world. There’s no pressure on Freddy and Max at the bottom. Certainly they are putting the commitment in, they are in the gym all the time.
“Freddy actually works for us now, he’s got a job as a driver in our Rugby branch.
“So they are certainly right up for it, they’ve got good backing and good equipment. I’m really excited about this year’s team.
“You need a bit of luck in speedway, people not to get banned or injured. Fingers crossed we get off to a good start.”
