GLASGOW director Peter Facenna is expecting another epic night of action in the SGP2 Qualifier.
The best Under-21 riders in the world will bid to reach the SGP2 series at Ashfield tonight (7pm).
Red-hot Allied Vehicles Tigers’ star Dan Thompson misses out with a broken scaphoid. But there’s still strong British interest with Ashton Boughen, Joe Thompson and Jake Mulford in the line-up.
Facenna said: “It’s a shame for Dan because I think he would have gone in as favourite, as he was last Sunday in the British Under-21 Final. I think he would have had a very good chance of winning on Sunday had he not been injured in his first ride.
“But it’s good that Joe’s here and Allied also sponsors Joe so there’s a connection there, Ashton is a Glasgow rider so hopefully he can do well, and Jake just missed out on the Final on Sunday so it’s a strong British contingent.
“There’s some serious competition with the likes of red-hot Danish stars Villads Nagel and Mikkel Andersen plus highly-rated Australian Tate Zischke.
“It’s a big occasion. We find that most riders who come here from across the world enjoy the track, and it will be really interesting to see how they do.”
