Glasgow Tigers Speedway received their first award of the season on Sunday night, as runner-up in the Best Family Day Out category at the Scottish Entertainment and Hospitality Awards.
The award reflects the hard work and effort put in to provide an exciting and entertaining day out every Sunday at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium. Major investment in the facilities at Ashfield has resulted in Glasgow Tigers boasting one of the best speedway home tracks in the UK. The new facilities have also helped attract British speedway individual events north of the border for the first time, such as the Mitas British Youth Championship and this weekend’s British Championship Semi-final.
The Tigers’ Peter Facenna commented: “This was our first time entering and while we’d love to have won it’s great to be recognised as runners-up against some stiff competition.
“The judges were clearly surprised and impressed when they visited and particularly mentioned the warm welcome and positive atmosphere they experienced, which is a fitting tribute to our magnificent fans.”
