Speedway fans in Glasgow are in for a double fix of exciting motorsport as the Tigers gear up for a bumper few days of action.
The club is hopeful for a win against the Plymouth Devils this Sunday – tapes up at 3pm as usual in what will be our home opener in this year’s British Premier League championship. Then on Tuesday evening the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium will see Glasgow’s first speedway action in 17 years.
The night fixture, against the Sheffield Tigers, will also be broadcast live on Sky Sports. Stadium doors open from 5.00pm – ideal if you fancy some refreshments after work – with the action getting underway at 7:30pm.
Fans Gear Up
The double fixture frenzy couldn’t have come at a better time for supporters after last Sunday’s meeting against the Rye House Rockets had to be called off when overnight downpours left the track waterlogged.
Co-owner Michael Facenna commented: “Speedway fans in Glasgow are some of the very best in Britain and we’re looking forward to a brilliant atmosphere at both meetings.
“With the Premier League getting underway we’re down to the really serious business now and everyone connected with the Glasgow Tigers is hoping for a great start to our campaign.”
Ticket Rush
Big crowds are expected so the club is urging regular supporters to book tickets in advance to avoid disappointment. Please note that proof of age is required for all concessions. Accepted forms of ID include passports, photocard driving licences and student cards.
A new Concession Pass is also being introduced and forms will be available from the stadium on Sunday and Tuesday. This means users will only need to provide their ID once each season and will also offer a 5% discount on Tiger Shop merchandise.
