Today’s much anticipated Scottish derby clash at Ashfield has been called OFF.
Persistent overnight rain, and a forecast for little let up throughout the afternoon, has forced our hand and left us no option.
Co-Promoter Colin Hamilton has visited Ashfield this morning:
“The track, with its improved drainage, could certainly be made race ready but only if we have a decent window in the weather.
Unfortunately the hour by hour forecast is for more rain, and that simply prevents us from doing what we’d have to. There would still be the prospect of further rain during the meeting which depreciates the spectacle as well as placing the riders at greater risk.
Reluctantly I am confident that we have reached the correct decision.”
Tigers will now focus on next weekend’s home KOC clash with Rye House.
