“I’m really looking forward to getting back. I think it’s good for me, it pushes me to do better.”
CLAUS VISSING is “delighted” to return to Glasgow to go one step better and win the Championship.
The dynamic Dane became the last name to be announced in the Tigers line-up for the 2023 season.
But Vissing, 36, is determined to help the side finally pick up the league title. His last appearance in the stripes was scoring a maximum in the Grand Final of 2019, but it wasn’t enough to stop Leicester taking the trophy by two points.
He said: “I’m delighted to be back at Glasgow. It was a shame that we never managed to win that Grand Final. That’s just speedway, it was so close. I think we did all we could in the final.
“But this is a new season, a new year and we can go for the league title again.
“I’m really looking forward to getting back. I think it’s good for me, it pushes me to do better. I obviously want to improve myself and do what I do best.”
Vissing is excited to join up with Chris Harris, Ben Basso and Tom Brennan in a potent top-end mix of youth and experience.
He added: “For sure it’s a good team. There may not be top star riders but we have experienced riders and good youngsters as well who are going to be stars of the future.”
Vissing will now spend the rest of the winter working but also working hard on his fitness. The former boxing fanatic has now adjusted his training regime.
He said: “I’m doing less boxing these days for training, instead I am cycling a lot more. That improves my physique so I’m not so heavy.”
