TIGERS boss Cami Brown wants his side to “kick on” after a vital away win at Berwick.
The defending league champions came from six points down to take a 47-43 victory at Shielfield Park on Saturday night.
Steve Worrall kept his cool to win the last heat decider after Chris Harris was controversially excluded following a heavy fall for Berwick’s Drew Kemp.
Brown said: “I’m over the moon, it’s a great result for the club and the fans.
“The boys fought really hard for that win. The decision to exclude Chris in Heat 15 was very poor. I’m just glad we got over the line.
“Steve was the coolest man in the stadium to win the decider and that’s all that counts.
“Chris was outstanding all night and didn’t deserve for his meeting to end like that.
“I have to give a special mention for Paul Starke. He rode through the pain barrier. He was injured in the Heat 8 crash at Ashfield on Friday night but he rode on and didn’t want to let the team down. That’s fantastic commitment and typical of a great guy.”
Berwick opened up a six-point lead after Heat 4. But a vital tactical substitute 5-1 from Harris and Worrall got the Tigers back into it.
Harris was once again different class all night, only dropping a point to Kemp before his exclusion. But Worrall and Leon Flint gave him superb backing.
Brown added: “Overall it’s a vital win for us. Our season needs to kick start from this point on. Chris, Steve and Leon Flint were excellent.
“Jack Smith was once again the hero with another brilliant win in Heat 14. We still have to improve but that was our best performance of the season.
“Our top three were so solid and when they all perform like that, we can be a match for anyone.”
BERWICK 43: Drew Kemp 9+1, Erik Riss 8+1, Jye Etheridge 7, Danyon Hume 6+1, Lewis Kerr 5, Sam Hagon 5, Jason Garrad 3+2.
GLASGOW 47: Chris Harris 14, Steve Worrall 11+1, Leon Flint 11, Jack Smith 7, Paul Starke 3+1, James Pearson 1, Ace Pijper 0.
Glasgow win the aggregate point.
