TEAM boss Cami Brown admitted his side were thankful for a strong finish to secure the vital aggregate bonus point at Berwick.
The Allied Vehicles Tigers went down by 49-41 in the BSN Series clash at Shielfield Park on Saturday night.
In a topsy turvy encounter, the home side took an early lead only for Glasgow to come back and go 22-20 in front after seven heats.
But Berwick stormed into their own lead and never looked back to take a vital victory.
In the end it took two crucial wins in Heats 14 and 15 from Kevin Juhl Pedersen and Kyle Howarth to get the bonus point.
Tigers boss Brown said: “It was a tough night at the office. Berwick are a very strong side, especially at home, and not many teams will get a result here.
“We lost a bit of momentum when Kyle got excluded in Heat 9. That meant we conceded two 5-1s and gave Berwick a lift.
“Chris Harris had a very rare off night. But Kevin, Kyle and Leon Flint delivered when it mattered. We got the bonus point and that keeps us in a good position in the group.
“There are lots of positives. Leon was outstanding all night and Kevin has been really impressive. Mario Hausl is also getting up to speed gradually.
“The main job was to get the bonus and we have achieved that.”
Hausl stormed clear in Heat 1 and appeared to take the win in a run to the finish line with Peter Kildemand, but the home rider was given the verdict.
The middle pairing of Flint and Juhl Pedersen was outstanding all night, starting with two big 5-1s in Heats 3 and 7.
But with Harris so unusually off the boil, the Bandits grew stronger in the latter stages. However Flint’s dominant performance on his old track and with Howarth and Juhl Pedersen backing him up, the Tigers just did enough for the bonus.
