TEAM boss Cami Brown praised his side’s solid all-round performance in a hard-fought win over Edinburgh.
The Allied Vehicles Tigers produced a vital 50-40 victory over the Stellar Monarchs to keep the play-off dream alive at Ashfield Stadium.
After an opening heat 5-1 to the visitors, the home side gradually came back to take control of the contest.
The stand-out performance of the night was from Josh Pickering for the Monarchs with a sensational 20-point haul. But thankfully for the Tigers, it was a far more solid display that counted in the end.
Brown said: “We had to dig in at times to get that result. We knew Edinburgh would be tough.
“Obviously they got the 5-1 in the opening race which was a bit of a setback.
“But in the end all the boys had their moments. We had a couple of fine displays from James Pearson and Leon Flint plus a special mention for Tom Spencer.
“There’s little doubt that Josh Pickering was different class. He has been the best visitor to Ashfield this season by some margin.
“But they just didn’t have sufficient back-up for him whereas all our lads contributed in a big way.”
The 10-point win keeps the Tigers in the hunt for a late charge to get in the top four.
Brown added: “It was just about getting the win tonight. At the end of the day, we’ll have to win at Armadale anyway if we are going to make the top four.
“Every meeting is definitely a cup final now. We will give it all we’ve got and next is Oxford at Ashfield and that’s going to be a blockbuster.”
