GLASGOW produced a “big reaction” to bounce back to winning ways with a 59-31 victory over Scunthorpe on Sunday.
Fresh from a defeat away to the Scorpions on Friday night, the Tigers sealed three more points for their SGB Championship tally at Ashfield on Sunday.
The match was two hours delayed in starting after a deluge left the track needing significant work to make it raceable.
When it eventually started, all seven home riders won at least once in an entertaining meeting as the visitors failed to land a single blow to the hosts’ lead.
The win moves Glasgow on to 26 points – level with second-placed Poole – with four matches in hand over leaders Leicester.
Boss Cami Brown said: “After the weather intervened, all credit to our track staff for getting a fantastic racetrack.
“Everyone gave 100% effort – Ben Basso, Ulrich Ostergaard, Craig Cook after a poor race – they all muscled in.
“Danyon Hume was immense tonight. Connor Bailey winning heat one really set the tone – it was a brilliant ride – so I’m delighted, we got a big reaction.
“I think everyone has picked each other up. We had a bad one at Armadale a week past on Friday and the next day at home to Edinburgh I thought we reacted very well.
“Scunthorpe is a very difficult place to go to – we weren’t particularly good on Friday night but we more than made up for it today.
“Some of the passing was amazing. I can’t believe how well the track rode – two hours before the meeting it was just mush.”
A busy June continues with a visit to Ashfield from Oxford on Friday night before the Tigers visit the Cheetahs following their return to the sport the following week.
Brown added: “We’re not going to underestimate anyone – if we do we’ll fall down – but we’re looking for a good result at home next week and a good result at Oxford on the following Wednesday.”
