TEAM boss Cami Brown praised his side for a “sensational” win at Oxford.
The Allied Vehicles Tigers snatched a 46-44 victory in the Cab Direct Championship at Cowley on Wednesday night.
Chris Harris and Kyle Howarth were the heroes in the final heat as they delivered the vital 3-3 to secure the points.
Brown said: “That was a sensational performance from the boys. Oxford is a very difficult place to go.
“We’ve got the win without Dan Thompson and two guests, we’ve dug that one from nowhere.
“Chris and Kyle knew what they had to do in the last race, they just settled for the shared heat to get the win.
“But they were fabulous throughout the meeting, so consistent and solid.
“It was far from a two-man performance. I have to give a huge amount of praise to our guests Justin Sedgmen and Luke Harrison, they were fabulous.
“Leon (Flint) was great as well with paid eight and his Heat 14 win was pivotal to get the victory on the night.
“I can’t fault Freddy (Hodder) or Max (Perry) either. They were worth well more than the points they got in the end.
“It was a really strong win. We’ve now won at Plymouth, Scunthorpe and Oxford in the Cab Direct Championship. That takes some doing.”
It was nip and tuck throughout but Tigers went into the lead in Heat 11 with a slice of luck after Mitch McDiarmid’s bike packed up on the last corner.
Harris then passed Sam Masters in Heat 13 only for the Aussie to repay the compliment in a cracking encounter.
Tigers led 40-38 with two to go and Flint delivered a vital victory to maintain the advantage.
Howarth and Harris were simply content to let Masters go in the decider and consolidate second and third to secure the victory.
It’s the Tigers’ third successive away victory in the league since the start of the Cab Direct Championship campaign – and most club historians believe that is a record.
