Glasgow Allied Vehicles Tigers are back on Premier League duty this evening as they make the trip to North Lincolnshire to face the 2012 league champions Scunthorpe.
With the weather having interrupted what should have been a busy last weekend, Tigers will head to face a Scorpions side who are less race rusty and who have been boosted in being able to give a debut to Nikolai Klindt at the top end of their side.
Tigers, who are still currently resigned to operating Rider Replacement for Dimitri, will also be without Anders who has a mandatory international call up to compete in a European Championship round in Slovenia this weekend. Whilst the Danish federation have selected Anders, and insisted that he participates, unfortunately the event is not recognised by the BSPA and thus the only permitted facility to cover means Tigers are restricted to tracking a National League rider, and have elected to bring in Glasgow asset and Scunthorpe Stags captain, Steven Jones.
Anders has made travel plans to allow him to return to Glasgow in time for Sunday’s League Cup visit of Workington.
Whilst Tigers cannot progress in that particular competition – in fact we have still to open our account – the Comets have everything to race for on Sunday, requiring to target a win at Ashfield by 7 points or more to claim the final semi-final place available to best group runners up.
The Comets will travel to Glasgow in determined mood and with a large support behind them, once again the Tigers will have our backs to the wall and will need to call on a Peterborough-esque level of performance to see off the visitors.
With Josh Grajczonek & co. in town, there’s certain to be plenty of exciting and entertaining speedway action to enjoy. Tapes up as usual as 3pm.
