Well, there has been a serious upturn in the weather of late and Tigers fans everywhere will hope that there will be an equivalent upturn in results for the team this weekend as they enter a very challenging ‘3 meetings in 3 days’ schedule with visits to Plymouth and Leicester before returning north to Glasgow on Sunday.
Making the shorter trip to Ashfield on Sunday are this week’s league opponents Workington Comets, currently riding high in second place in the Premier League table.
The Comets are expected to just about have returned to full strength, and we believe will be cheered on by a large travelling support from Cumbria on Sunday.
Of course, Workington are spearheaded by Richard Lawson who is determined to reclaim the Ashfield track record in his own right having been matched a few weeks ago by Kevin Doolan. Tigers skipper Joe Screen, himself a former Ashfield track record holder, has indicated that he’d quite like to get his name back in the track record holder category too!
The main top line support for Lawson comes from Dane Rene Bach, and former Tiger Rusty Harrison, however when you consider they also track the returning Chris Mills, Kyle Howarth and Ashley Morris with R/R for Tero Aarnio, then once again our Tigers will need to be in top form.
So, what about the Tigers?
As we have stated already this week, we are working on trying to strengthen the team and improve our fortunes both for this weekend and beyond.
It now looks like we will make two temporary changes – both enforced – to the team for this weekend, and are currently awaiting Management Committee approval prior to being able to confirm the details. We expect to issue a further Red Alert tomorrow morning to confirm our line-up for all three meetings this weekend.
There is no doubt that the Tigers will, once again, be up against it this weekend however, back to the walls or not, we must be resolute and determined and above all supportive.
