GLASGOW No 1 Craig Cook helped seal Great Britain’s place in the finals of the Speedway of Nations tonight.
The Englishman scored eight points – bagging four second places – joining team-mates Tai Woffinden and Robert Lambert in progressing to Russia in July.
Cook told BT Sport: “Coming off last year it was a bit of a downer for me… so it was nice to help the lads out for once and put in some decent points.”
GB boss Alun Rossiter added that Cook hadn’t been there to make up the numbers – and insists he can play a crucial role in the two legs of the final.
The Brits won the round at the National Speedway Stadium in Manchester with Australia in second and Denmark in third also making it through.
Cook will now lead the Tigers into a crucial KO Cup tie at Sheffield tomorrow – before returning to Ashfield next Friday for the visit of Eastbourne in the SGB Championship.
