TEAM boss Cami Brown was proud of his side’s “fighting spirit” to beat Redcar.
The Allied Vehicles Tigers snatched a late 46-44 win over the Bears in the BSN Series semi-final, first leg at Ashfield.
Redcar led for most of the hard-fought clash until Chris Harris and Villads Nagel grabbed a last race 4-2 to seal the win.
Brown said: “That was a fierce battle and I’m proud of the boys for showing so much fighting spirit to get the win.
“We would have liked a bigger lead to take to Redcar for the second leg. But I believe we are just as good at their place to get a result and reach the final.
“We were a bit sluggish early on and that cost us a bit probably. I think being away from Ashfield for three weeks meant we were a bit rusty on the set-ups and especially out of the starts.
“But the boys really dug in late on to get the win. Redcar are an excellent side and perhaps the most in-form in the Championship right now.
“They are solid right the way through the order. We will need to be much sharper on Tuesday against Poole in the KO Cup.
“Now we have to start stronger next week. There are good signs. Chris Harris and Villads Nagel were outstanding, Leon Flint also rode his heart out. But all the boys need to go up a level next week.”
