GLASGOW team boss Cameron Brown believes emotions will be cast aside by the importance of the big Championship top two clashes.The Allied Vehicles Tigers take on leaders Leicester in two mouthwatering meetings on Friday at Ashfield and at the Lions’ home base 24 hours later.
Brown admits that he’s not surprised that the Tigers and Lions at loggerheads has stirred up some history but doesn’t reckon it will overshadow the occasions.
He said: “Obviously people are going to build it up into something big, that’s what the media and fans like to do.
“You couldn’t have scripted the way it has turned out with old manager Stewart Dickson returning to defend his place at the top of the league now at Leicester.
“I don’t think there’s hard feelings. He left Glasgow of his own accord and I was given his place as manager.
“There were stories and rumours put about after Stewart left that I forced him out, that was absolute rubbish.
“Then after that came some weird talk that I was ringing Stewart to get advice on how to do the job, that was also complete nonsense. I don’t know where those stories came from but certainly not from me!“I genuinely don’t think any of it will matter come 7.30 on Friday night. It might mean more to Stewart, I don’t know, you’ll have to ask him that.
“I’ve known Stewart a very long time and we both love the club Glasgow Tigers, both of us have kept the club alive during the past decade or so.
“But this weekend I’m in the Glasgow pits and he isn’t. That wasn’t my choice but I’m extremely proud to be in charge of the team. I’m confident in my man management and my motivational style.
“Considering I’ve only been doing this job for just over a year, I’m delighted to be competing despite my inexperience. I’ve got a lot to learn but we have a proper management structure at Glasgow and it works better than ever before. There’s no egos, just work ethic.”
Glasgow are bidding to chase down Leicester at the top of the table but have slightly dipped in form as have the injury-ravaged Lions.
Brown added: “It’s going to be a cracking weekend. I think the Ashfield track is in the best shape it has ever been. The racing is simply sensational.“We have the best rider in the league by some margin in Craig Cook. We have been going well in the Championship and so have they.
“I think it does them a slight favour to have Chris Harris guesting for Richie Worrall. We have our own target for what we want. We go into every meeting to win, simple as that.
“I’m not sure whether it’s the time to talk about psychological edges, there’s a long way to go right now and a lot more twists before we can think about meeting in the play-offs.
“It’s just about this weekend right now. Do our jobs, win our own individual battles and see where that takes us. You won’t find me shouting my mouth off, that’s not my style.”
