GLASGOW have raced on to 16 points after just five matches as their scintillating start to the speedway season continues.
The Tigers were never troubled as they ran out 52-38 winners over Redcar Bears in the SGB Championship tie at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium.
It could have been even more comfortable, but for a mid-meeting rally from the away team.
And it was another strong team performance as every rider was again paid for at least one win – including Danyon Hume, who was a capable guest for the injured Jack Smith.
Manager Cami Brown – who previously admitted he would accept a one-point victory over the Bears – said: “It’s been an absolutely fantastic start for the boys.
“We’ve had some really good results so far but tonight it’s been an absolutely amazing performance with some fantastic racing against an extremely good team.
“Redcar will beat most teams in our league and I’m chuffed to bits that the boys have done so well tonight.
“Everybody has contributed again and it’s the formula we have for the team, where if one or two riders don’t fire at maximum power, the other ones can back them up – and so far, so good.
“But it’s only the start of the season and there’s a long, long way to go.
“We go to Redcar now on Sunday and we go with a plan to attack, and see if we can get the points. Why not? We’re riding so well, we’ve got the team to do it, and the boys are in a really good frame of mind.
“We’re full of confidence but more importantly we’ve got a bond together which is building.
“It’s also been amazing to have some fans back with the noise they’re making. We’d love to be able to get more fans in eventually and get the place full to the rafters again.”
The Tigers have called upon Great Britain under-19 international Drew Kemp to deputise for Smith for Sunday’s trip to Teesside.
