When Glasgow bosses Alan Dick and Stewart Dickson took over the team in 2000 their first signing was Danish youngster Henning Bager, and to complete a full circle Bager has once again been signed by the Tigers following his release from the Elite League side Coventry. It is hoped that he will add some much needed solidity to the middle order of the side and will take the place of Chris Mills. He will make his debut against Scunthorpe on Friday and his opening home bow will be this Sunday against Edinburgh in the derby fixture. Ater losing out to the Monarchs in the KO Cup, Co-Promoter Stewart Dickson expects a whole lot better this weekend:
“I could sense that Chris was struggling with confidence and the bottom line is we cannot really afford to lose any more home fixtures so we were forced to look at altering things in the team. When Henning became available we decided that he could do the job we require, which is mainly to score to his average home and away. If he can do that then I think we will be a better side for it. In signing him on a 5.76 average it still gives us a little leeway for other areas of the side if we need it, but being honest I think we are a little stronger now. We are obviously keeping a watchful eye on young Jayden but he seems to be very determined and we must be as patient as we can with him as he is still young and learning all the time.
This Sunday I am demanding for the sake of our fans that wer do better than we did in the KO Cup where we were pretty abject. We have a bit of switching about to do with Mason and Filip swapping positions in the team, it is now a great opportunity for Filip to get back to where he should be while we will miss out on Mason’s scoring at reserve but he will still score in the main body, he’s a good lad. Edinburgh will come full of confidence but it is up to us to get going early, build up some heat advantages and go from there. Much better is required!”
