CAMI Brown insists Glasgow face a “massive challenge” to dump their biggest rivals out the cup this weekend – despite Edinburgh missing key riders.
The Tigers and the Monarchs go head-to-head twice in 24 hours in the KO Cup.
Brown’s men hit the road first on Friday before the return leg at Ashfield on Saturday.
And both sides will look different for the second round – particularly when it comes to the Monarchs, who are missing their top two, Sam Masters and Josh Pickering, because of Polish commitments.
But with former Tigers Richard Lawson and Justin Sedgmen stepping in as guests, Brown says he still expects a tough set of ties.
The Glasgow boss said: “We won in the league at Edinburgh earlier in the season so we know we are capable there.
“But we also know how good they can be round their own place and no two meetings are the same, so we’ll have to be at our best again.
“It won’t be their usual team on Saturday but if I was forced to book a guest for our number one, Richard Lawson would be my choice, so he is a strong replacement for Sam Masters.
“Justin Sedgmen is also on fire at the moment – and has already ridden our place this year when I booked him as our guest – so they may not look like the normal Edinburgh, but they are still top class.
“They also have Dillon Ruml stepping in for the injured James Sarjeant, who scored well on his last visit, so it is still a massive challenge ahead of us and we will respect that.”
The Glasgow line-up will also be rejigged as Danyon Hume moves back to reserve, with Connor Bailey taking his place in the main body of the team – giving the Tigers a power-packed reserve pairing of Hume and Broc Nicol.
