POLISH star Maciej Janowski says he is ready to put on a show for fans in Glasgow as his side aim to take revenge on Great Britain for their Speedway of Nations victory.
The Wroclaw hero – nicknamed Magic – is part of a star-studded line-up for Wednesday’s test match at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium, which has been rearranged from Tuesday due to the weather.
An eight-time Grand Prix winner, three-time World Cup champion and twice winner of his country’s national title, Janowski is one of Poland’s most successful riders.
A slip-up in Sunday’s SoN final by Janowski ultimately cost Poland a chance at winning gold, as Great Britain capitalised, but they still travel to Scotland with perhaps the best international line-up in world speedway.
Janowski said: “I have only seen videos of Glasgow from Rasmus Jensen when he raced in the GP meeting earlier this season. The track looks very nice, it looks fun to race.
“I think the test match is important to show our team around the world. It will be good to compare us against Great Britain and be in Glasgow.
“I know that many Polish fans will come there and they are very excited. I’ve never been there so I’m excited too.
“But I will be very pleased to show my riding skills and show good speedway to the people of Glasgow.”
The likes of two-time world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik, newly crowned World Under-21 Champion Jakub Miskowiak and Tobiasz Musielak – winner of the Grand Prix qualifier at Glasgow earlier in the season – join Janowski in the Polish line-up.
The hosts’ line-up includes SoN heroes Robert Lambert, Dan Bewley and Tom Brennan, along with British Champion Adam Ellis and Jordan Palin – winner of the Premiership last week with Peterborough.
Captain Tai Woffinden will not compete after picking up leg and chest injuries in the first round of the SoN on Saturday, with the exciting Chris Harris stepping in.
