TEAM boss Cami Brown was delighted with his side’s “gritty” performance to outgun Redcar.
The Allied Vehicles Tigers beat the Bears 48-42 in the Cab Direct Championship at Ashfield.
It was a fierce top of the table battle with home No.1 Chris Harris delivering several outstanding passes to top score with 16 points.
Brown said: “We knew it was going to be close and it was good to finally get it wrapped up at Heat 14.
“There was a lot to like in that performance. We were under pressure without Dan Thompson and Leon Flint.
“But our boys rode their hearts out and managed to pull off a really big win. It was a gritty performance.
“Special thanks to guest Tate Zischke who did an outstanding job for us. He gave 100 per cent in every race and possibly was the difference in the end.
“Chris once again produced his typical incredible passes. The one over Charles Wright in Heat 13 was right out of the top draw.
“It was also good to see our new boy Villads (Nagel) win his first race for the Tigers. He was so exciting to watch all night. He’s gradually working the track lines out.”
A strong start with a 4-2 in Heat 2 and 5-1 in Heat 3 gave the Tigers the cushion they needed and held onto for the duration of the clash.
Brown added: “I felt everyone did their bit. The reserves rode much better than the points they got.
“Kyle Howarth battled all night and is annoyed he didn’t get anything from the last heat. But overall it’s a really strong win.
“I’m just pleased to get some points on the board again after a month missing home meetings. Now we need to kick on again.”
