Tigers maintained their unbeaten start to the league with a record breaking home win against a poor Scorpions side who never looked like winning a heat far less a heat advantage.
It really was one way traffic from the beginning, although Nike Lunna had to pass Josh Auty in the opening heat before Carl Wilkinson fell whilst second a bend later, causing the race to be awarded.
Two more 5-1s followed, with the visitors looking uneasy especially on the third bend. A track grading seemed to make little difference, with Tigers racing into a 24-6 lead after 5 heats.
Heat 6 looked like it would bring a welcome heat win as Ryan Douglas rode a good outside line on the second bend to lead. Richard Lawson looked as if he had passed him a couple of times on the inside, only for Douglas to maintain his lead until he fell off under a little bit of pressure on the third bend. Tigers taking another 5-1.
Fernando Garcia quickly rounded Alex Davies in heat 7 but just failed to pip Ashley Morris as Tigers extended their league to 33-9.
Scunthorpe decided, as Peterborough had the week before, to use their TR in heat 8 but both Tigers made the start with Wilkinson the TR, slowing up at the back. Despite some hairy moments from Danny Ayres, it was another 5-1.
Douglas got the better of Ben Barker in heat 9 to split the home men, before Lawson and Lunna took another maximum in heat 10.
Heat 11 saw a superb last bend pass from Aaron Summers over Wilkinson to remain unbeaten, despite looking out of it going down the back straight.The Tigers skipper celebrating before he had even crossed the finishing line!! Garcia easily winning the heat.
Heat 12 saw a good battle for the minor places, with Zdenek Holub taking second after Ayres locked up chasing him, with Bailey not far behind at the end.
After another easy 5-1 in heat 13, Garcia then passed both Scorpions in heat 14 for another 5-1 before Richie Worral and Lawson wrapped up their own maximums in the last heat.
This was Glasgow’s biggest ever win at Ashfield and also over the 15 heat format and their biggest winning margin for 22 years since beating Sheffield 76-20 in 1994!!
Despite the scoreline, there was some good racing albeit when Glasgow missed the start, mostly involving Lunna and Garcia, although the race of the day was Summers last bend pass of Wilkinson.
Four Tigers scored maximums, with Lunna scoring his first ever in this country against his former side.
As for the visitors, there isn’t really much you can say, other than both Douglas and Morris had a couple of good heats but the rest weren’t at the races, with Auty in particular being disappointing.
