Glasgow moved up to third in the league with a comfortable win over a below strength Workington side missing two riders and being unable to get a suitable guest.
It was sweet revenge for their defeat in the Shield last month and more importantly stopped the Comets picking up anything either.
Tigers got off to a perfect start with an opening 5-1, with both Comets tripping over each other at the back.
Heat 2 was shared before Rasmus Jensen took a surprise win in heat 3, with Claus Vissing having to pick himself up after a fall on the first lap, to chase after Dale Lamb, passing him on the final bend.
Nicolai Klindt made an electric gate to win heat 4 , with Chris Harris passing Mason Campton to avoid the 1-5 .
Tigers extended their lead to 6 with a 5-1 from Vissing and Lewis Kerr in heat 5, followed by a 4-2 as Worrall, despite missing the start, drove up the inside of Klindt to win heat 6.
Another followed in heat 7, to put Tigers 10 up.
Paul Starke may not be fully fit but he produced a superb piece of riding in heat 8. Campton made the start with Starke quickly into second. He steadily wore down the Australian’s lead and produced a brilliant cut back on the 4th bend of lap 3 to pass the Comet down the home straight.
Kilndt then took two wins, holding off the fast charging Vissing and Worrall in heats 9 and 10 respectively but the shared races maintained the 10 point gap.
Chris Harris tried to get partner Jack Thomas into a scoring position in heat 11 but the youngster was crowded out for yet another 3-3.
Tigers gated on a 5-1 in heat 12 but Kerr allowed Klindt up his inside on the second bend and Sarjeant was unable to hold off Campton as the visitors took a 4-2.
Klindt won his fifth race in heat 13 but Rene Bach retired at the back to take Tigers to match point.
They duly wrapped it up in heat 14 through Vissing, whilst Thomas just couldn’t hold off Campton for second.
Workington still had a chance of a point with a last heat 5-1 but Worrall made the start and the heat was shared.
With last year’s embarrassing defeat by a 4 man Sheffield side still fresh in the memory, Glasgow will be glad to win this even if the 10 point gap doesn’t seem as much as it could’ve been. The reason for this was Nicolai Kilndt scoring one of the highest ever totals by a visiting rider and Mason Campton going unbeaten by a home reserve, although he failed to beat anyone in the Tigers 1-5. He also surprisingly was only given 6 rides, with the Comets team manager not quite juggling his resources properly.
The Tigers top 5 scored an impressive 45 between them, with Worrall, Starke and Harris only losing to Klindt . The shuffling of the pairings appearing to work well.
Tigers take a break at home next week but have two tricky away matches at Sheffield and Workington, where any points would be welcome.
Next action at Ashfield is the Youth Championship on 24th June.
