STENE PIJPER admits he is “ready” to deliver a big performance in the British Youth Championship.
The 15-year-old will be getting the home support in the 500cc class at Ashfield Stadium on Sunday (2pm).
Pijper, younger brother of Glasgow star Ace, believes his recent experience in the British Under-21 meeting gives him the belief to deliver on home shale.
He said: “It’s always good to race on your home track. I’ve done a lot of laps at Ashfield so I should feel confident there.
“It won’t be easy. There’s some really good riders in my class so I know it will be tough.
“But I felt I did really well in the British Under-21 a fortnight ago.
“I was one of the youngest riders to ever be in the final and I got scored three points.
“I also thought I was on the pace in all the races, so I know that my level is pretty good.
“That won’t mean anything on Sunday obviously. We all start equal but this is a meeting I really want to do well in because it’s my home round. I’m ready for it.
“I won’t set myself any big targets. I’m ready for it. I just want to make some good starts and make it easy for myself. Hopefully I can get to the final, that’s my only aim.”
It’s a mammoth afternoon of entertainment with the cream of British youngsters battling it out.
There are 31 riders and 39 races scheduled with four classes; 500cc, 250cc, 150cc and Support.
