GLASGOW star Leon Flint says he is “sharp” and ready to go for the Ben Fund Bonanza.
The all-action Allied Vehicles Tiger will take his place in a strong field at Ashfield on Saturday night (6pm).
Flint, 23, has improved massively over the past two campaigns and is now eager for the season to get underway.
He continued racing over the winter with meetings in both Australia and America, and he will now start the domestic campaign as one of five Tigers riders in the fund-raising event.
He said: “I have done a lot of riding, so I feel like I am sharp. Weirdly though, that has probably made the last few weeks worse as I’ve had that racing, then come home and had a lot of time without it, so it feels like it has been a long time.
“I am really excited to get going now and everything is in place and ready to go, and it’s time to get those bikes dirty again.
“I have been in the situation where I have had to use the Ben Fund in the past and they were great, they help in any way they can so it is an honour to do it.
“The Ben Fund are always there whenever anyone needs it. It isn’t nice when you do as it means something has gone wrong, but it is a great cause and one the riders really appreciate.”
Another Tiger Kyle Howarth will also have his first meeting of the season at Ashfield.
Howarth said: “It’s always been a meeting to do, to give back, they’ve helped me in the past. It’s a great meeting to do for a great cause. It’s always nice when you get asked to do it.
“I don’t think I’ve needed to call on the fund for a few years, it might have been as far back as my shoulder injury (2019). The plan will be to keep it that way!”
Sedgmen added: “I wasn’t injured last season so I did not need the Ben Fund’s assistance, but for what they did for me in 2024, I should do the Ben Fund every year for the rest of my career.
“It’s the start of the year and everyone always want to do a bit of riding before the main fixtures start. Hopefully the weather holds so we can have a good day.”
