Last season the Tigers strolled to the league title, using nine riders over the course of the campaign. This coming Sunday, for the final scheduled home league fixture of the campaign, no fewer than five of those riders will be in action as the Bandits of Berwick call upon Nick Morris to guest as well as David Bellego, a regular in their team. The “Western Commercial” Tigers know that if they wish to round off their season with a win, then they will have to overcome the challenge of a side containing Ashfield experts. It will be the first time that Nick Morris has ridden at Ashfield since his move at the end of last season.
Captain Joe Screen knows that with the season coming to an end, it is vital that the team continue to impress at home and set themselves up for what is sure to be a challenging winter:
“We all know that this winter will be a very differnet one from last year. The very existence of the club is under threat and we know that we may all have to move on at the end of the year depending on what happens over the course of the next few weeks. I certainly have had a decent year at home and barring an odd meeting or two so have the whole team. We did lose our first league fixture which we should never have done, but have remainded undefeated since then and we don’t want to give that up in our final meeting.
I see that Berwick have added Nick Morris as a guest and that will be intriguing. He is such a talented rider but there is no doubt that the three of us who rode with him last year will not be wanting him to get one over on us. Berwick have a good looking side and I suggest this will represent one of our toughest challenges of the season. I am waiting to hear if Henning will be fit, we could certainly do with him, but it will be massively difficult. It certainly is a meeting we all want to win for the benefit of our fans and the rest of the lads.”
TEAMS:
Glasgow – Joe Screen, Mason Campton, Josh Grajczonek, Henning Bager, James Grieves, Charles Wright, Filip Sitera
Berwick – Nick Morris, David Bellego, Nikki Barrett, Robin Aspegren, Seb Alden, Micky Dyer, Klaus Jakobsen
Both sides with have to keep their fingers crossed regarding injuries with Berwick awaiting news on Nikki Barrett and Glasgow wait for Henning Bager. Late decisions will be taken on both. Meanwhile the next action at Ashfield will be Sunday 30th September, opponents to be determined. There is no action on the 16th with the PLRC taking place at Sheffield on the 23rd.
