JASON DOYLE hasn’t ridden at Glasgow for over a decade – and is looking forward to seeing the Ashfield transformation.
The 2017 World Champion last rode on the racy, pacy circuit in 2011 after helping Newport win the KO Cup over the league title-winning Tigers.
But now he returns for the first time since the Facenna family revolutionised the club for Saturday’s much-awaited Great Britain v Rest of the World test match.
He said: “The last time I was at Glasgow was with Newport in 2011, way before the revival of Glasgow.
“I’ve only heard massive positive news from all the boys who go up there for the first time to say how much it’s changed over the past few years.”
Doyle will be a fierce No.1 for the Rest of the World and is currently 10th in the GP standings, but just nine points behind third place. He knows it will be a big test this afternoon.
He added: “The first thing I thought was that I hadn’t been to Glasgow and I wanted to see the new stadium and what they’ve done to it. When Rob Painter asked me to do the meeting I was 100 percent keen to do it.
“It’s a good time to test things, different set-ups. GB are going to be tough on home soil, even without Tai. The boys up there know their way round the track.”
