The management of the Western Commercial Tigers know that this weekend’s action against the Newcastle Diamonds is a huge test to see if this side is capable of making the top six. So far the Tigers have picked up just three points from three meetings and any more home slip ups could prove very costly. Co Promoter Alan Dick knows that the Diamonds are a side destined to finish in the top six this year, boasting a very strong side with plenty of experience, but he also thinks the win over Plymouth last week will have given his side a huge boost and can restart the quest for a place in the top six:
“There was excitement aplenty last week in the win over Plymouth with most of the side contributing well to the big win. However I fear that they will have to produce something similiar this week if we are to take the points off a very good Diamonds side. We race them home and away and the minimum we require is three points but I am greedy and I hope we can sneak something away from home too.
We are in a strong position of having a full strength team to take to the track which is important and the situation is pretty simple. We are facing what I would consider to be the best side we have raced all season so far and as this new look side of ours is settling in, it will be a great gauge as to whether we are able to make the top six. Last week however, we sensed that things are going in a positive direction and all members of the team were scoring. Jayden Omalley had his best meeting and has set himself some targets now, while Chris Mills and Filip Sitera will now have another home meeting under their belt as they get used to their new surrounds. All in all I know we face a tough encounter but at the same time, with good backing from our support, I think that we are well placed to get a win and take all three points.”
