COURAGEOUS captain Craig Cook has vowed to race on for Glasgow despite suffering a broken wrist on international duty.
The Tigers No 1 crashed heavily after smashing into team-mate Robert Lambert in the opening round of the weekend’s Speedway of Nations finals in Russia while representing Great Britain.
Despite the fall he carried on and managed to win a race later in the meeting – though he admitted he had been struggling to hold on to the bike in yesterday’s second round of races.
The Englishman had the injury confirmed while attending hospital today but will lead Glasgow into what manager Cami Brown is branding the “biggest match of the season” against Eastbourne tomorrow in the first leg of the Championship Shield semi-final.
Cook tweeted the news this evening:
Just back from hospital and unfortunately I have fractured the Capitate in my left wrist, i still have ok strength and movement so I will be strapped up and ready to go for @glasgowtigers tomorrow evening. Thanks again for support over the weekend 🇬🇧

Brown said: “It’s the biggest meeting of the season. We had to wait to see about Craig’s fitness but it’s a fantastic boost that he’s taking his place in the line-up and he has shown incredible bravery, not only to keep racing for Great Britain’s cause, but to help us in such a big match tomorrow.
“We need to build up a big lead to take to Eastbourne for the second leg. We may have won down there earlier in the season but no two meetings are the same and they can be a dangerous team.”
Tomorrow marks the start of a hectic period for the Tigers in which they will race six meetings in 11 days, three of them away from home.
It is also an important part of the season for Cook, who is aiming to clinch British Championship glory at the National Speedway Stadium next Monday for the second time in his career and qualify as the wild card for the British Grand Prix in September.
