TEAM boss Cami Brown hailed his “sensational” top pair of Kyle Howarth and Dan Thompson.
The Allied Vehicles Tigers snatched dramatic Super Heat decider win in the Cab Direct Championship at Scunthorpe on Friday night.
Howarth and Thompson produced a huge 7-2 in the last race after the meeting had finished 45-45.
It’s the first time the Tigers have won five away meetings in a row since 1946.
Brown said: “That was a sensational performance from Kyle and Dan.
“We were six points down with four races to go. Kyle and Dan got us back in it and then got the 4-2 in the last heat to make it 45-45.
“Then they managed to win the 7-2 in the Super Heat. That was absolutely top draw stuff.
“Dan showed a lot of aggression in his riding which I’ve not really seen from him up to this point. He didn’t know when he was beaten, he was tenacious and just superb.
“Kyle has just come back from injury and he’s been really poorly recently as well. I thought he was immense tonight.
“Ashton (Boughen) was much improved. He provided the points that gave us the chance to win the meeting.
“Chris (Harris) was nowhere near his normal self and was unwell but he still popped up for a vital 5-1 in Heat 13 as well.
“Make no mistake, this is a really tough place to come. We had some boys off colour but still managed to get the result.”
It was all level at 27-27 after nine races. But the home side edged clear 36-30 after a big 5-1 in Heat 11 over the clearly unwell Harris.
But then Thompson and Howarth took over. They picked up a tactical substitute 5-1 in Heat 12, followed by the same result for Howarth and Harris in the next.
The Scorpions hit back to lead with their own maximum going into Heat 15.
The home side gated but somehow Thompson worked his way through to the front with Howarth third to force the Super Heat.
Once again Thompson stormed round the outside to join Howarth for an excellent win.
Brown added: “To win at Plymouth and Scunthorpe within six days is a great way to start our Championship league campaign.
“I’m delighted for the boys. It’s another big result and I’m proud of all the boys.”
“Leon (Flint) had a poor night by his standards. But we’ve got a team where other riders pop up and get wins like Ashton did to cover for his mate.
“That’s the sign of a good side. Both the reserves were on the pace but they need to make better starts. But I do feel they are improving.
“I keep saying it, but when they all click together this will be some team.”
