TEAM boss Cami Brown admits it was “a massive win” at Redcar to keep the league title dream alive.
The Allied Vehicles Tigers grabbed a vital 51-39 victory at the ECCO Arena in their Cab Direct Championship Play-Off Group B clash on Wednesday night.
It means that Glasgow now have a winner-takes-all fixture with Oxford at Ashfield next Tuesday to decide who reaches the Grand Final against Poole.
Brown said: “We made a very slow start but the boys produced a really gutsy performance to come back. It’s a massive win.
“We were eight points down after two races but they all gut stuck in and worked so hard. I’m really proud of them, they were magnificent.
“I can’t fault any of them. Chris Harris, Ben Basso and Vadim Tarasenko were all top class.
“Tom Brennan was unwell but still managed to dig deep and pick up vital points. Lee Complin produced a couple of sensational races at a vital time and Jack Smith did another great job as a guest.
“It sets up a huge meeting with Oxford next Tuesday at Ashfield. We need to win by 11 points at least to reach the Grand Final against Poole.
“That’s going to be so tough, we know that. But tonight we’ve given ourselves a chance for a third Grand Final in four seasons.”
Tigers were rocked after going down 10-2 after two races. But Redcar suffered a huge blow in losing guest Justin Sedgmen following a big crash in Heat 3.
Brown also gave an update to the injuries keeping out Claus Vissing and Ace Pijper, adding: “We’ve been a six-man team for three weeks. People forget that Claus is a very important part of the team.
“He scores massive points and covering for his absence with rider replacement is not ideal.
“Claus is due to get the brace off his knee on Monday but Tuesday’s fixture will come too quick for him.
“If we manage to get past Oxford, he might just be fit for the final. There’s a possibility Ace could also be fit for the final and he’s been an excellent reserve.
“But we need to focus on reaching the final, that’s going to be very tough against Oxford.”
