TEAM boss Cami Brown admitted he was “hugely disappointed” with a second home defeat to Edinburgh.
The Allied Vehicles Tigers went down by 48-42 to their local rivals in the first leg of the Scottish Cup at Ashfield last night.
It was the tale of two guest riders with Drew Kemp, stepping in for Tigers No.1 Kyle Howarth, only scoring two points.
In contrast Edinburgh replacement Tate Zischke, covering for Paco Castagna, scored paid 10.
Brown said: “I’m obviously hugely disappointed with the result. Ultimately it came down to the use of guests and sadly for us Drew didn’t have a night to remember.
“That’s always the risk when you lose your No.1. Kyle would have scored double figures and we would have won comfortably with him.
“We’ve left ourselves a mountain to climb in the second leg at Armadale but we are more than capable of achieving it.
“It’s also a tough night to lose Kevin Juhl Pedersen. He’s very battered after a horrific crash in Heat 14. But it was just one of those nights for us.
“Fair play to Edinburgh they thoroughly deserved the win, like they did in May.
“But we will need to up our game when they come back in the Cab Direct Championship later in the month.”
The one positive for the home side was a much-improved display from Mario Hausl.
He crashed leading Heat 1 but went on to deliver two impressive wins in Heats 8 and 10.
Brown added: “The only bright spot of the meeting was the performance from Mario. He was a little unlucky in Heat 1 but basically kept us in the meeting with his other two wins. That’s much better from him.”
