ALLIED VEHICLES SPONSOR BEN FUND

ALLIED VEHICLES will be the sponsor for the season-opening Ben Fund Bonanza at Glasgow.

A glittering line-up for the individual event has already started to be assembled with former Grand Prix winners, Tigers No.1 Chris Harris and Berwick star Peter Kildemand the first names revealed today.

The Ben Fund will take place at Ashfield Stadium on Saturday, March 28 at 6pm.

Speedway Riders’ Benevolent Find Chairman Paul Ackroyd said “We are indebted to the Facenna family, Allied Vehicles and Glasgow speedway for agreeing to be the main sponsor for the Ben Fund Bonanza. It’s the biggest sponsorship we’ve had to date.

“They are a very successful business and are the UK’s leading manufacturer and supplier of adapted and special purpose vehicles. They are really getting behind British Speedway, including of course Cab Direct’s backing for the Championship.”

Harris has one of the best Bonanza records from his six previous appearances, including two second places and one third.

He is the sixth highest scorer in the history of the event. He said: “I hadn’t realised I had done that many but when Paul (Ackroyd) asked, I agreed right away. It’s an honour to do it and give a little back.

“Glasgow’s an ideal venue with good entertainment and plenty of passing. As I’ve had these previous podium finishes, it would be nice to win it.”
